About OptiMindInsights

With OptiMindInsights, I wish to help ambitious professionals who feel drained by high ambitions master their mental energy so they can excel at work and enjoy life.

Those whose ambition and dedication sometimes tip into compulsion, restless thoughts, low energy, and a heavy mood. People who, in many ways, are just like me.

And I believe it all begins with learning to master our mental energy.

I translate the latest research on the brain and mind into practical strategies, teaching people to master their mental energy and fully enjoy both major areas of life; career and social.

About me

For me, it all started in front of a laptop with big dreams and a lot of motivation and ambition.

With a Master’s in Sports Science and a background building ambitious startups, I’ve always been extremely fascinated by optimization and improvement.

Especially the brain has always been a big interest of mine.

So, with Andrew Huberman as a role model and my academic training in reading scientific articles, I began OptiMindInsights.

The focus was on brain optimization for mental health and performance.

A broad theme without much direction.

And as it turned out, without many readers.

I struggled for months, consuming as much information on building a newsletter and an audience as I possibly could.

I did it in the mornings and late at night - outside of my job as a Project Manager in an ambitious longevity startup.

But even though I was working hard, the results were hard to spot.

My performance slowly started to drop.

Not just with this newsletter, but also at work.

It got harder to focus. I felt tired. And my usually sky-high motivation slowly declined.
That was bad. But worse was how my overall wellbeing started to follow.

I’ve always had a tendency to overthink and had to deal with intrusive thoughts, but it got worse, and my mood drifted.

So I decided to try and understand what was happening.

And slowly - through the process of writing these newsletters - I found the first signs that I had probably overdone it.

I had pushed through too much cognitive load for too long.

That’s when I began shaping the idea of mental energy.

I started seeing the brain as an energy-consuming muscle. A muscle that could be used, trained and overused.
A lot of what I already knew from sports science suddenly made more sense in this new context.

When I balance workload and recovery, focus on sleep, and train with meditation and neurofeedback, I see the difference: better work, clearer thinking, stronger decisions, and more bandwidth for the people I care about.

I built OptiMindInsights first to learn all this for myself - and now to share it with anyone whose big ambitions sometimes work against them. The goal isn’t to lower our ambitions, it’s to spend our mental energy wisely so we can actually reach our goals.

The Practical

Every other Sunday, I’ll will focus on one and sometimes a few scientific articles.
I will help you understand the research and show you how to apply this in your own life.

Each month centers on a specific theme, and at the end of the month, I’ll do a monthly recap to deliver the key takeaways for you.

At the core of this work, is a believe that actually understanding the science will strengthen the effects of these techniques, routines and habits that we are tying to integrate into our lives – a concept supported by science.

So, I hope you will enjoy the insights and the explanations, and that you will find that understanding the science behind these techniques, will strengthen their effect in your life.

I hope to help you master your mental energy, so that you can excel in your life!
